Snapmaker Silk Dual-Color PLA Filament 1.75mm 1KG
Snapmaker Silk Dual-Color PLA is a 1.75 mm silk-finish filament that co-extrudes two colors into a single strand, so the color of a print shifts as the model turns and the light changes. It suits makers who want glossy, decorative prints such as vases, lamps, ornaments and display pieces. Its Snapmaker RFID tag is compatible with the RFID technology in the Snapmaker U1, which reads the spool automatically.
Key Features
- Dynamic two-tone color shift that changes with viewing angle as the printed object rotates.
- Reflective silk finish with a satin-like sheen that suits curved and multi-faceted models.
- Six coordinated dual-color blends: Sunset Ember, Aurora Gold, Solar Alloy, Mint Lemonade, Sea Glass and Ice Lake.
- Snapmaker RFID tag, compatible with the Snapmaker U1's RFID technology, which loads preset filament information automatically.
- No hardened steel hot end or top cover required, according to Snapmaker.
- Prints on most FDM 3D printers with manual tuning; optimized U1 profiles are built into Snapmaker Orca.
Dual-Color Shift in Every Print
Two colors are co-extruded into one strand, so a single spool produces a gradient-like shift across the surface of your model. Curved and multi-faceted designs show the effect most clearly, while flat or strictly geometric shapes show it less.

Satin-Gloss Finish
The reflective, satin-like surface catches light and helps conceal layer lines. For a greater shine, reduce printing speed or raise the temperature within the recommended range, and keep the cooling fan on for a refined surface.

Automatic Recognition on Snapmaker U1
The Snapmaker RFID tag on each spool is compatible with the Snapmaker U1's RFID technology. When you load the spool, the U1 automatically reads the tag and loads the preset filament information, so there is no manual material entry before you print. Optimized profiles are built into Snapmaker Orca. RFID recognition works on the Snapmaker U1 only.

Clean, Consistent Printing
Snapmaker highlights bubble-free, clog-free, high-precision and tangle-free filament quality across its filament range.

How the Two Colors Blend
The two primary colors can blend during hot extrusion. Yellow and blue, for example, may produce green tones, which is normal material behavior.

Compatibility
- Snapmaker U1: the Snapmaker RFID tag on the spool is compatible with the U1's RFID technology, so the printer loads filament information automatically. Optimized profiles are built into Snapmaker Orca.
- Other Snapmaker printers: official profiles are not yet available, so manual tuning is required.
- Other FDM printers: the filament supports most FDM 3D printers, with manual tuning where required. The RFID tag is read by the Snapmaker U1 only.
- Build plate: textured PEI is recommended.
- Bambu Lab AMS and other multi-spool systems: Snapmaker has not published AMS compatibility for this filament, so check your system before ordering.
What's in the Box

FAQ
How does Silk Dual-Color PLA differ from standard PLA?
It has a more reflective, silk-like finish, a two-tone color shift and better concealment of layer lines than standard PLA.
Is the RFID tag compatible with the Snapmaker U1?
Yes. The Snapmaker RFID tag on the spool is compatible with the Snapmaker U1's RFID technology, so the U1 recognizes the filament automatically. RFID recognition works on the Snapmaker U1 only.
Do I need a hardened steel hot end or a top cover?
No. According to Snapmaker, neither is required.
How can I reduce stringing?
Slightly lower the nozzle temperature, tune retraction, dry the filament and keep the nozzle clean. Snapmaker notes that stringing may be slightly more noticeable than with standard PLA.
Why do my colors look flipped or uneven?
Slight twisting of the filament can cause color flipping or uneven shifts. Check extruder tension, keep infill and wall speeds similar and maintain a smooth feed path. An external direct-spool setup may reduce twisting caused by longer PTFE paths. Avoid twisting or tangling the filament by hand.
Are the spool and filament recyclable?
Snapmaker states that both are made from 100% recyclable materials. Whether they can be recycled depends on your local facilities.
