Sunlu PLA+ (PLA Plus) 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm 1KG

Sunlu PLA+ is a PLA-based filament for the prints you actually use — models, prototypes, jigs, brackets and parts that get handled rather than sat on a shelf. The formulation is designed for better toughness and layer adhesion than standard PLA, while printing with the same ease. Each spool holds 1 kg of 1.75 mm filament with a stated diameter tolerance of ±0.02 mm, and there are 30 colours to choose from.

Key Features

  • Tougher than standard PLA — Sunlu formulates PLA+ for improved toughness and impact resistance, which is what you want on a part that gets dropped, screwed into or flexed.
  • ±0.02 mm diameter tolerance — tighter than the usual ±0.03 mm, so extrusion stays consistent once your profile is dialled in.
  • Neatly wound — the spool pays out smoothly instead of tangling or crossing over itself halfway through a long print.
  • Built for faster printing — Sunlu advertises speeds up to 300 mm/s with matched temperature and flow. What you actually reach depends on your printer, your hot end and your model.
  • 30 colours on 1 kg spools, from the everyday Black and White through to Oak Wood, Sakura Pink and Roasted Chestnut Black.
  • Prints like PLA. No enclosure, no heated chamber, no hardened nozzle — a 50–60°C bed and a standard brass nozzle are enough.

The Same Colour, Spool to Part

Every colour below is the filament beside something printed with it, so you can judge the finished shade rather than the spool.

Why PLA+ and Not Plain PLA

Standard PLA is the easiest filament to print and the easiest to snap. It is brittle at the layer line, which is fine for a display model and a problem for anything with a screw boss, a clip, a hinge or a thin wall that gets handled.

PLA+ keeps PLA’s printability — no enclosure, no warping, no fumes worth worrying about — while adding toughness and better layer adhesion. In practice that means a part that bends slightly before it fails rather than shearing along a layer. For a maker printing functional parts on an open-frame machine, it is the sensible default, and it costs very little more than plain PLA.

It is not a replacement for PETG, ABS or nylon. PLA+ still softens around 54°C, so it is the wrong choice for anything that lives in a parked car, near a motor, or outdoors in a UAE summer.

Printing Guidance

Standard printing 205–215°C at 50–100 mm/s
Higher-speed printing 215–245°C at 100–200 mm/s
Build plate 50–60°C; Sunlu’s table specifies use with glue
Drying 50°C; Sunlu does not state a duration
Storage Below 20% RH, sealed with desiccant
Ambient Room temperature

A note on temperatures. Sunlu’s own sources disagree: the printed page table gives the ranges above, while the site’s product data lists 195–205°C and 205–220°C. We have published the page table. Follow the label on the spool you receive, start from your slicer’s PLA+ profile, and tune temperature, cooling and flow from there.

These are Sunlu’s published reference values. Finished-part properties depend on print orientation, geometry, walls, infill and your printer — and Sunlu does not publish the full test methods, so treat these as indicative rather than as design limits.

About the Spool

Sunlu has shipped several spool generations for this filament, and the manufacturer states that more than one design may be supplied:

First generation 196 × 72.5 × 61 mm · 70°C · not reusable
Second generation 195 × 63 × 57 mm · 90°C or 110°C · reusable
Third generation 200 × 55 × 68 mm · 90°C or 110°C · reusable

We cannot promise which spool design arrives, so if you need a specific bore diameter for an AMS or a particular dry box, ask us before you order and we will check the stock on the shelf. The temperatures above describe the spool, not the filament.

What’s in the Box

One spool holding 1 kg of Sunlu PLA+ filament, vacuum-sealed. Confirm any included extras against what you receive — Sunlu’s packaging varies by batch.

Not included: the printer, and the printed models shown in Sunlu’s photography and video, which are demonstration pieces.

Compatibility

Sunlu PLA+ suits most FDM printers built for 1.75 mm PLA-family filament — Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Snapmaker, Anycubic, Elegoo and the rest. No enclosure or hardened nozzle is needed.

Check the spool fits your feeder. If you run an enclosed spool holder, an AMS-style unit or a dry box, measure against the spool dimensions above and allow for the filament path, because the bore diameter differs between generations.

Why Buy from Omnimakers

  • Held in UAE stock. Days, not weeks — and filament that has not spent a month in a humid shipping container on the way to you.
  • Priced in AED. No customs surprise at the door, no card conversion fee.
  • We print on what we sell. Profile and settings questions get answered from machines on the bench rather than a spec sheet.
  • Support in your timezone, from people who print.
  • One supplier for the whole setup — printer, plates, spares and filament on one invoice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Sunlu PLA+ and standard PLA?
PLA+ is PLA with an additive package for better toughness and layer adhesion. It prints at similar temperatures and needs no enclosure, but a finished part is less brittle — which matters for anything with a clip, a screw boss or a thin wall. Sunlu publishes notched IZOD impact of 10 ±3 kJ/m² for PLA+.

Is this PLA+ or PLA+ 2.0?
This listing is Sunlu PLA+ (PLA Plus). Sunlu sells PLA+ 2.0 as a separate product with its own specification, and it is not what is sold here.

What temperature should I print it at?
Sunlu’s page table gives 205–215°C for 50–100 mm/s and 215–245°C for 100–200 mm/s, with a 50–60°C bed. Sunlu’s own product data elsewhere lists lower ranges, so check the label on your spool and start from your slicer’s PLA+ profile.

Can I really print at 300 mm/s?
Sunlu advertises up to 300 mm/s. That is a ceiling on an ideal model with a high-flow hot end, not a setting to start from. Most printers run PLA+ well in the 100–200 mm/s band with the matching temperature.

Do I need an enclosure or a heated chamber?
No. PLA+ prints on an open-frame printer with a 50–60°C bed. It does not warp the way ABS or ASA does.

Do I need a hardened steel nozzle?
No. PLA+ is not abrasive. A standard brass nozzle is fine — hardened steel is for carbon- and glass-filled filaments.

Will it fit my AMS or enclosed spool holder?
Check first. Sunlu has shipped three spool generations with different bore diameters (72.5 mm, 63 mm and 55 mm) and says more than one design may be supplied. If a specific bore matters to you, ask us and we will check the stock before you order.

Is the spool reusable?
The second- and third-generation spools are reusable; the first generation is not. Because Sunlu may supply more than one design, we do not promise a reusable spool on this listing.

Does it need drying before use?
Not usually, straight from the vacuum bag. If it has been open a while and you see stringing or popping, dry it at 50°C — Sunlu does not publish a duration, and 4–6 hours is the usual figure for PLA. Store it below 20% RH with the desiccant.

How hot can a finished part get?
Not very. Vicat softening is 54°C and heat deflection is 56 ±3°C, so a PLA+ part will deform in a parked car in a UAE summer, near a motor, or in direct sun. Use PETG, ABS or ASA for anything that gets warm.

Is it suitable for outdoor parts?
No. PLA-family filament degrades under UV and heat. For outdoor use, ASA is the right material.

How much filament is on the spool?
1 kg net, roughly 330 m at 1.75 mm.

Which colour should I choose for a functional part?
Any of them print the same. Darker colours hide layer lines better on a visible part; lighter colours show detail better in photographs.

How should I store it between prints?
Reseal it with the desiccant in the original bag or a dry box, below 20% RH. PLA+ is less moisture-sensitive than PETG or nylon, but a spool left open for months will print noticeably worse.
